Books:

Some of my favorite industry books and some that have helped me immensely.

A Dictionary of Family History. Jonathan Scott

Advanced Genealogy Research Techniques. George Morgan and Drew Smith

Albion's Seed by David Hackett Fischer. If you want to understand British folkways in America, this is a good place to start. I love this book.

Genealogy Detective: How to Be Your Own Family Tree Detective. Donna Hall

Genealogy for Dummies. Matthew and April Helm. While I don't love the series title for these books, this is a good starter book. It walks one through simple steps for doing family history research and genealogy. It also walks the user through some good genealogy tech tools and tackles current issues such as privacy concerns.

Genealogy Online. Elizabeth Powell Crowe

Genealogy Standards. I believe it is important to know genealogy standards and strive to meet them. It's not always possible, but it pays off to do the best family history research you can, from the start.

How to do Everything: Genealogy. George Morgan

Inside the Victorian Home: A Portrait of Domestic Life in Victorian England. by Judith Flanders. A great book to get a glimpse of what it was like to live in the Victorian era.

Maps for Family and Local History. Foot, Beech, and Mitchell

Researching African American Genealogy in Alabama. Frazine Taylor

Scottish Genealogy. Bruce Durie
